TRAINING WORKSHOP ON THE PROCESS OF DIGITALIZATION OF EDUCATION

From August 28 to September 2, 2023 at PIASS Huye, the coordination of the project “Resilience of Educational institutions through Digitalization - A reaction to Covid-19 (ReDiCo) organized the training workshop for project staff and teachers, future trainers of others . Each Institution component of the project was represented by two project employees, the “Focal person” and the IT IT specialist. These institutions are three Protestant educational organizations: The Protestant Council of Rwanda (CPR), the Baptist Community in the Center of Africa (CBCA) in North Kivu (DRC) and the Coordination of Protestant Convention Schools (CP-ECP/SK ) in South Kivu (DRC) and two university schools, PIASS (Protestante Institute of Arts and Social Sciences) in Rwanda and ULPGL (Free University of the Great Lakes Countries) in Goma in the DRC. In this workshop there were also 12 teachers from nursery level, 12 from primary school, 12 from secondary school and 8 from university.

The main objective of this training workshop was to give participants technical and educational skills in the field of digitalization of education. This is why they first started with IT training sessions by the project's IT specialists before continuing with the educational aspects of the training which were led by Prof. Dr. Annette Scheunpflug from the University of Bamberg in Germany. She was refused travel to Rwanda at the last minute but she conducted her presentation well by zoom and the assistants present in the training room.

The Redico project will contribute to improving the quality of education in Rwanda and the east of the DRC through the digitalization of education. This requires the involvement of project staff, staff from target schools and parishes but also parents, church leaders and the grassroots community. The project is behind schedule in the execution of certain activities because of equipment which was late in arriving, but we are going to do a lot of things in the little time we have left.
